RICHLAND, Wash.-A driver suspected of a DUI hit-and-run was identified after crashing and leaving their license plate behind early on the morning of Sept. 27.
Richland police responded to the hit-and-run crash at Wellsian Way and Lee around 1:20 a.m. to find two sections of fence near the Carmichael Middle School sports fields damaged.
According to the RPD, the driver went through the fence and drove around some trees before getting back onto Lee and heading west.
Although the car and driver were gone when RPD officers got to the scene, the car lost its license plate in the crash.
Officers then tracked the car to the home of its registered owner, where they were arrested on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license, according to the RPD.
