Driver jailed on suspicion of vehicular homicide after deadly Halloween rollover in Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash.-A driver is in jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide after a deadly single-car crash on Halloween.

The rollover happened around 7:25 p.m. on the 9500 block of Roza Hill Drive.

According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a 1988 GMC pickup going east rolled off the south side of the road while trying to go around a curve.

Two passengers in the truck were ejected when it rolled and one of them, 18-year-old Nathan Sanchez, died from his injuries.

Sanchez’s family has been notified of his death, according to the YCSO.

The second passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

The YCSO’s Traffic Division is now investigating the rollover and at this time it is believed that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to a YCSO press release.

The driver was booked into the Yakima County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
