
WHITE PASS, Wash.- UPDATE 12:41 p.m.: Washington State Patrol confirmed one person died after a crash that sent a car off the side of a cliff on March 12.
The crash happened in the eastbound lane of State Route 12 near milepost 154 around 7 p.m., according to the WSP.
WSP said the car reportedly dropped an estimated 200 feet over a cliff after crashing off the road. Fire, emergency crews and mountain rescue crews were on scene and a drone was launched around 8 a.m. on March 13 to help in the rescue.
While the cause of the crash is unknown, darkness and bad driving conditions may have contributed.
