KENNEWICK, Wash. – A driver was cited for negligent driving for crashing into a school bus in Kennewick Tuesday afternoon according to Kennewick Police Department Sergeant Matt Newton.

Newton says a bus with nine children and two adults was driving westbound on Kennewick Avenue and Kent Street when a driver heading eastbound allegedly drove into the westbound lane and crashed into the bus at 12:30 p.m.

The driver who hit the bus claims he fell asleep at the wheel at the time of the crash. Newton says he is being charged for negligent driving in the second degree.

Newton says the investigation is complete. No one was injured and both vehicles involved were not drivable after the crash.
