YAKIMA, Wash.-Educational Service District 105 announced the hiring of its new Assistant Superintendent on June 12.
Dr. Alicia Jacob will replace Shane Backlund, the current Deputy Superintendent, who will take over as the new Superintendent in July.
“I am excited for the honor to work with our regional districts to ensure the success of all students,” said Dr. Jacob. “I look forward to building relationships and continuing to offer the opportunities provided by the amazing staff of ESD 105 to meet both the common and unique needs of our educational community.”
Dr. Jacob was chosen as the next Assistant Superintendent based on her commitment to educational equity, innovation and student success, according to the ESD 105.
Dr. Jacob has held several leadership positions with the Yakima School District and is currently the Executive Director of Student Learning for the Selah School District.
According to ESD 105, Dr. Jacob has been focused on prioritizing student-centered learning and creating equitable systems of support across all areas of education throughout her career.
