YAKIMA, Wash. – The Downtown Association of Yakima will host two events on Dec. 1 to kick off the holiday season, including a holiday market and a tree lighting ceremony.
The market starts at 2 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m. at the Rotary Pavilion. Local vendors will be in attendance selling gifts, crafts and treats.
Local nonprofits will also host the Bring a Gift Campaign where attendees are invited to put gifts under their favorite decorated tree. All gifts support local causes like the YWCA and the Yakima Humane Society.
Immediately following the market is the Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Millennium Plaza. Prior to the lighting is the Lighted Parade, which kicks off at 6 p.m.
Both events are free to attend and open to the public.
