KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. – A fire temporarily closed SR 821 in both directions between Yakima and Ellensburg on Wednesday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The Selah Fire Department calls the fire the Selah Butte Fire.
Bureau of Land Management spokesperson Travis Edwards says the fire is 50 to 100 acres in size. No structures have been damaged and the fire is fully contained as of 1 p.m. on Thursday.
WSDOT says the road was closed southbound from Thrall Road and northbound from the Sundown M Ranch.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews will stay in the area monitoring the fire.
