YAKIMA, Wash. – A garage caught fire on Tuesday in Yakima, heavily damaging it and temporarily closing a road for crews to work.
West Valley Fire Deputy Chief Jim Johnston says crews were sent to the area of South 121st Avenue and West Wide Hollow Road at around 2:30 p.m. for a fire in a 3,000 square-foot garage.
The fire heavily damaged the garage, however was under control in about an hour. No other buildings were threatened and crews left the scene at about 4:45 p.m.
West Wide Hollow Road was closed throughout that hour so crews could stretch a hose across the road.
Johnston says no one was injured in the fire and that an accidental electrical problem was the likely cause.
Crews from West Valley and the Yakima Fire Department responded to the fire.
