HANFORD, Wash. – Fire crews are currently responding to a 570-acre wildfire near Highway 240 on the Hanford Site, according to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Deputy Project Leader Trina Staloch.

The fire is near 1200 Foot Rd. in the Hanford Reach National Monument across from the Rattlesnake Barricade and 240, according to Hanford Fire.

Hanford Fire responded to the fire with two wildland trucks and a bulldozer, according to Shane Edinger, a Hanford Fire Communications Specialist.

Staloch says the fire is not fully contained, however crews have stopped forward progression of the fire.

No one has been injured and the cause is currently unknown, according to Staloch.

Staloch says Hanford Fire, U.S. Fish and Wildlife and Benton County Fire helped with the fire. Crews will be out at the fire for several days to extinguish hot spots.
