YAKIMA CO., Wash. – A two-car crash west of Wiley City around noon on July 29 left one person dead.
According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved a 2005 Honda Civic and a Power Technology Incorporated truck. The crash started a small fire but YCSO said fire crews put it out quickly.
The Honda was on the north side of Ahtanum Road with serious damage to the front and driver’s side areas when YCSO Deputies arrived.
The power truck was on the south side of Ahtanum road and also sustained extensive damage to its front end in the crash
According to the YCSO, the driver of the Honda was going westbound on Ahtanum Road when it crossed the center line and hit the power truck going eastbound head-on.
The driver of the Honda, a 29-year-old man, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and died at the scene.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
Deputies closed Ahtanum Road at Stanton Road and said it would be closed for most of the day while they investigated the crash.
