County commissioners meet to talk about the Lineage Warehouse Fire

FINLEY, Wash. – The Lineage Warehouse fire in Finley continues to burn, keeping fire crews on scene night and day to monitor it.

25 days after the fact, the Benton County Commissioners met to look at the destroyed building after community members asked what the County can do.

At the meeting, officials talked about communicating with the community more, saying there could be progress updates in the future.

County Commissioner Jerome Delvin said the fire is out of the county government’s jurisdiction, but they have looked into what it would take to use emergency funds to help the fire department.

Benton County Fire District 1 confirmed a company contracted by Lineage plans to start demolishing next week to give firefighters better access to the fire deep in the property.

“They can’t even reach to where the fire is still smoldering,” Delvin said. “ …the company has hired some contractors to come in here and then start pulling that stuff out safely, make sure it’s out and then haul it off to a landfill.”

The contract company said demolition should take about 60 days.

On the County’s social media, they announced Lineage Logistics, Signal Restoration Services, BCFD1, Benton-Franklin Health District and Benton Clean Air will start working on a plan moving forward.

For now, the Benton Clean Air Agency and BFHD are monitoring the smoke to make sure more hazardous particulates are not being found.
