TRI-CITIES, Wash. – Thousands of cases of butter from Costco has been recalled due to it missing a ‘contains milk’ statement, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
Sticks of both Kirkland Signature Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter and Kirkland Signature Salted Sweet Cream Butter that have ‘best by’ dates between Feb. 22, 2025 and March 29, 2025 are affected by the recall.
The FDA says the lack of a ‘contains milk’ statement could expose consumers to an “undeclared allergen,” despite listing cream as an ingredient.
“Butter lists cream, but may be missing the Contains Milk statement,” stated the FDA.
The recall is considered a Class II recall by the FDA, which includes “situation[s] in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
