BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – The Benton County deputy prosecuting attorney that was in a July 4 crash that killed him, his wife and two of his children was driving while drunk, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
BCSO says the Benton County Coroner completed a toxicology report which read that Brad Bartlett, 35, had a blood-alcohol content of 0.082, slightly over the legal limit of 0.08.
On July 4, BCSO says Bartlett was driving south on Travis Road and failed to stop at an intersection with Sellars Road. A truck heading westbound on Sellars Road reportedly hit the car Bartlett and his family was in.
Bartlett’s wife and two children, a 9-year-old and a 3-week-old, were also killed in the crash. His 2-year-old son survived and was brought to Harborview Medical Center for treatment before being released to family members.
The driver of the truck was also hospitalized but has since been released.
