Cop and Fire on Top to benefit Special Olympics set for Aug. 3 in Richland

TRI-CITIES, Wash.-Law enforcement agencies will participate in the Cop and Fire on Top water fight fundraiser with local Special Olympics athletes on Aug. 3.

Cop and Fire on Top will be at the Richland Walmart at 2801 Duportail Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is an opportunity to showcase the thriving Special Olympics program of the Tri-Cities, as well as to raise funds and recruit new athletes, coaches and volunteers, according to event organizers.

Members of the Kennewick and Richland Police Departments, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Richland Fire and Emergency Services, the State Patrol and Tri-Tech Firefighter students, will go up in a scissor lift and have a water fight with Special Olympics athletes during the fundraiser.

Money raised will benefit the local Special Olympics program, including helping pay for facilities fees and practices, uniforms, equipment and travel.

A Cop on Top at Coffee Shop will also be held from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at three different Starbucks locations in Pasco to raise money for local Special Olympics athletes.

Anyone who can’t make the Cop on Top events on Aug. 3 or Sept. 20, but would still like to donate may do so by scanning the QR code or contacting Tri-Cities Special Olympics.
