PENDLETON, Ore.-The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation are hosting a Voter Registration drive on Oct. 10 from 4-8 p.m. at Hamley Slickfork Saloon, 8 S.E. Court Ave.
The event is open to the public and will help individuals register to vote ahead of the Nov. 5 General Election, according to a CTUIR press release.
Registered voters may also check their voter registration information and update it, if necessary at the non-partisan drive.
“We hope to see a lot of people registering for the first time along with those who may need to update their registrations,” said CTUIR Communications Director Kaeleen McGuire.
The voter registration drive will also feature food and music and elected officials, including the Oregon Deputy Secretary of State and the CTUIR Tribal Court Director.
To register to vote in Oregon someone must be a U.S. citizen and at least 16 years old. If a potential voter will not turn 18 until after the election they will not receive a ballot, according to today’s press release.
“This event is open to everyone, not just tribal members. Come join us for food, music, giveaways, voter information and hopefully adding new voters to the rolls,” said McGuire.
Those interested in registering to vote at the drive should bring their Oregon Driver’s License, permit or ID card issued by the Oregon DMV. Those without any state issued identification may still register using the online application.
