TOPPENISH, Wash.-Residents have the opportunity to provide input on a plan to create paths in the lower Yakima Valley through an online survey.

Survey results on the Heritage Connectivity Trails will help the Washington State Department of Transportation and project stakeholders design paths where they are needed most according to a press release on the survey.

The Heritage Connectivity Trails online survey will be available from September 28 until October 31.

WSDOT was awarded a $1 million Federal RAISE grant as part of a partnership with the Yakama Nation to determine where walking paths should be created.

According to WSDOT the grant funding will be used to complete a feasibility study and conduct designs and an environmental review for the series of paths between Union Gap and Toppenish.

The HCT trail system will eventually develop over 150 miles of paths from Union Gap to White Swan to Mabton.
