TRI-CITIES, Wash.- The 3 Rivers Community Foundation (3RCF) serves Benton and Franklin counties, working with donors to build a permanent community endowment to support local nonprofits.
Abbey Cameron, CEO of 3RCF, said this year they received about 90 applications for their annual grant program.
“We get requests from all sorts of nonprofits that serve our residence here,” said Cameron. “It’s all very local.”
The Annual Grant Program is 3RCF’s most public project, opening applications late in the summer for nonprofits to apply for funding. This year they received a range of applications from nonprofits supporting shelter, arts, food security and animals.
Cameron said the board is in the process of reviewing the requests and interviewing applicants. This year 3RCF will award $300 thousand dollars to support local projects.
“We never have enough funding for the requests that we get,” said Cameron. “Really difficult decisions but ultimately this year we will be able to fund about 67 of those organizations.”
The next step is awarding the nonprofit organization during the Celebration of Philanthropy luncheon on December 3 at the Three Rivers Convention Center. NonStop Local’s Chief Meteorologist Monty Webb will be the emcee.
“This only happens with the impact of donors,” said Cameron. “Whether its a one time gift to our annual grant fund or it’s someone who wants to consider starting an endowed fund to support a cause they really care about, it all starts with a conversation.”
