Community cooling center to be open July 20-21 in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-A Community Cooling Center will be open July 20-21 in Walla Walla as the Northwest heat wave continues with temperatures over the weekend forecast to be above 100 degrees.

The Community Cooling Center at the First Congregational Church at 73 S. Palouse Street in Walla Walla, will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21.

The Cooling Center will feature air conditioning, hydration and wi-fi, according to a press release on its opening.

According to the Walla Walla County Department of Community Health, cooling centers will be activated when temperatures exceed 105 degrees for at least two consecutive days and nighttime temperatures do not fall below 75 degrees.
