RICHLAND, Wash.-The City of Richland continues to work on a long-range development plan for Leslie Groves Park and the public is invited to review and comment on the proposed plan until October 22.
Some Richland citizens voiced their concerns over the most recent draft plan for the park that includes pickleball and basketball courts, parking lots, an arboretum, a new dock, vegetation management and more, at the City Council meeting on October 17.
The current draft plan for development at Leslie Groves divides projects into three sections, south, central and north and is available online.
Residents speaking at the Council Meeting were mainly concerned with the possible effects that planned development may have on native vegetation, native butterfly species and the possible noise impacts related to new pickleball courts.
After the review and comment period on the development plan ends the public is invited to an open house on Leslie Grove development on Thursday, November 9 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Richland City Hall.
According to the City of Richland, the Parks & Recreation Commission will discuss the draft plan and public comments at a Workshop meeting in November or December, then provide feedback to staff and consultants before voting on whether to recommend a plan to the City Council for approval.
