Columbia Wildlife Refuge celebrating Public Lands Day with free, guided hike

ROYAL CITY, Wash.-National Public Lands Day is Sept. 28 and the public is invited to a free guided hike at the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge.

The hike, which will start at the Refuge’s trailhead at 10 a.m., is open to everyone and will include biologists to talk about wildlife and a native plant expert to talk about fall pollinating plants, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Geologist and author Bruce Bjornstad will attend the hike to explain the geology of the area.
