Cold temperatures prompt opening of warming center in Walla Walla

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Starting Tue., March 5, the First Congregational Church in Walla Walla will be open overnight to provide warmth for those that need it, according to a press release from the Walla Walla County Department of Community Health.

Temperatures as low as 24 degrees and precipitation are expected Tuesday night in Walla Walla County and surrounding areas.

The First Congregational Church, located at 73 S. Palouse St., will open between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. starting Tuesday night. Opening and closing dates are set to change based on weather forecasts.

During the day, the public can warm up at the Walla Walla Public Library at 238 E Alder St. Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
