Coffee prices spike due to climate change impacts

UNITED STATES – Coffee enthusiasts may need to prepare for a price hike as the cost of high-quality Arabica coffee beans has increased significantly.

Experts point to climate change as the main factor behind the rising prices. This month, the price of Arabica coffee beans, commonly used in restaurants and shops, surged to $3.50 per pound.

This marks a 70% increase this year, reaching the highest price point since 1977.

Weather events such as droughts, frost, floods, and high temperatures have reduced crop yields in major coffee-exporting countries like Brazil and Vietnam, according to experts.

These environmental challenges are affecting the availability of coffee beans, leading to the price increase.

Coffee lovers may need to adjust their budgets as these changes continue to impact the market.
