OLYMPIA, Wash.-Forty-six grants were awarded to boost clean energy projects across Washington, including several in Eastern and Central Washington.
The Washington Department of Commerce announced the grants, funded by the Washington Climate Commitment Act on Sept. 12.
A total of $37 million was awarded through two programs to boost clean energy technology innovation and support clean energy planning, design and construction projects throughout the state, according to Commerce.
One set of grants will support research, development and demonstration of new technologies that improve the production, use, storage and transportation of energy.
According to Commerce the other set of grants will fund a wide variety of projects to promote clean energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Communities all over Washington will benefit now and in the future from these strategic investments in clean energy,” said Commerce Director Mike Fong.
