YAKIMA, Wash. – A Clarkston man was sentenced to 13 years in prison on Wed., May 1 on two counts of attempting to entice a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.

David Elmo Curry, 38, was convicted on Dec. 6, 2023. After his 13 years in prison, he is set for 10 years of supervised release.

Court documents say Curry was arrested in Yakima after driving from Kennewick to have sex with two girls aged 11 and 13. He had replied to an online ad from a mother looking for a man to have sex with her children, however the ad was part of a sting operation by the Washington State Patrol.

When he was arrested, Curry had both condoms and flavored lubricant on him. He was charged in the Yakima Superior Court with attempted child rape and released on bail.

While on bail, the press release says Curry had created his own online ad that a Homeland Security Investigations Task Force Officer responded to acting as a 13-year-old girl. Curry requested nude photos and arranged to meet over dozens of emails and text messages.

“Even while on release for related crimes, Mr. Curry attempted to find a young child to victimize,” said U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref. “I am deeply grateful for the work of Homeland Security Investigations, our local partners, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, for effectively responding to technology-facilitated sexual exploitation and for protecting our children.”
