MESA, Wash.-The former treasurer for the city of Mesa has been arrested on suspicion of theft and misappropriation of funds.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Detectives announced the arrest of the 50-year-old from Lind, Washington on June 26.
The former Treasurer had been under investigation for theft, injury to the public record, misappropriation and official misconduct prior to her arrest, according to the FCSO.
The investigation allegedly stemmed from the misuse of purchasing power during her time as Treasurer, including using government funds to purchase $10,000 of personal items, including new tires for her personal car.
According to the FCSO, this is the second arrest of a city of Mesa employee on suspicion of theft-related charges in the last three years.
