Chinook retention in Columbia River extended through Dec

OLYMPIA, Wash.-Retention of Chinook salmon in the Columbia River upstream to the Blue Bridge has been extended through Dec.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced the rule change on Oct. 11.

The new regulations are in effect from the Dalles Dam upstream to the Blue Bridge at Pasco.

According to the WDFW, the Columbia River Technical Advisory Committee updated the upriver returning Chinook estimates to 635,650, which allows for additional retention of Chinook.

Revised Chinook fishing regulations

Daily limit of six through Oct. 15 Up to two adult salmon including no more than one Chinook. Salmon minimum size 12 inches. Salmon and steelhead other than Chinook must be released.Oct. 16 through Dec. 31: Daily limit six. Up to two adult salmon including no more than one Chinook. Salmon minimum size 12 inches. Release all salmon and steelhead other than Chinook and coho.
