MOUNT RAINIER – The Washington State Department of Transportation announced it will close the gates to State Routes 410 and 123, including Chinook Pass and Cayuse Pass, at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

WSDOT said the passes are expecting over 20 inches of snow in the next 24 hours, making road conditions dangerous for maintenance crews and travelers. Officials will make the decision to re-open the road after they re-evaluate the road and avalanche conditions on Monday, Nov. 4.

Travelers can check out current weather and highway condition on the WSDOT mountain passes webpage and through the WSDOT app.
