PASCO, Wash. – A child playing with a lighter caused an apartment in Pasco to catch on fire on Friday, according to Pasco Fire Chief Kevin Crowley.
Crowley says at around 2:28 p.m., crews were called to a 4-plex apartment on West Sylvester Street and North 20th Avenue with reports of fire and smoke in a second flood apartment.
The fire was under control at 2:40 p.m. The occupants were evacuated and outside for about two hours before being cleared to reenter the building, as there was some damage to the apartment but it was not destroyed.
One person was medically evaluated, though no one was hurt in the fire.
