The road to the altar has been a long one for Officers Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), but fortunately, it’s looking like Chicago P.D. Season 12 will feature their long-awaited wedding.
“I know that the intention is to have it happen,” Flueger tells TV Insider, admitting, “I don’t know much.” He’s particularly interested to see how that plays out, given the nature of the show’s storylines; it is a procedural, after all.
“Either the whole team will show up and will be bloodied and bruised, or I guess maybe it’ll open with it and maybe the wedding gets shot up, I don’t know,” he speculates. “I don’t know. How can you do a case of the week and do a wedding all at the same time? It’ll be interesting to see how they pull it off. I wish I could tell you that I had more information than that, but I just found out we’re having a wedding.”
One thing that he does expect: Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) to be Ruzek’s best man. He also wants some familiar faces to return for the event.
“I actually hope that Tracy [Spiridakos, who played Hailey Upton] and Jesse [Lee Soffer, who played Jay Halstead] and maybe Jon Seda [Antonio Dawson] come back,” shares Flueger. “We can do a little bit of a reunion. That’s my hope, but we’ll see what happens.”

Besides the wedding, looking ahead, the star teases “a great episode” for Burgess with the seventh of the season.
And when it comes to what he’s enjoying most about their on-screen relationship this season, Flueger raves about working with Squerciati.
“I just enjoy working with Marina. She’s one of my best friends, and we challenge each other. We’ve got each other’s backs. We’re constantly whispering into each other’s ear and talking, not giving direction, but offering ideas, and it’s really fun,” he shares. “For that reason, I feel very lucky. We’ve got good chemistry. It’s real easy to act with her. She’s so talented. I just kind of sit back and let her do all the work. More than anything, just what I like the most about it is I get to work with Marina.”
