Chestnut Avenue in Yakima to close for 3 weeks for sewer replacement

YAKIMA, Wash. – The City of Yakima says that Chestnut Avenue from 6th Avenue to 7th Avenue will be closed for three weeks starting Tue., Sept. 24.

The closure, which will be in effect 24/7, is needed to replace the sewer and will be reopened during the week of Oct. 14. That date may change based on weather, equipment failures or emergencies.

Access to homes and businesses on Chestnut Avenue will be maintained as much as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through if necessary.

Some trash collection services may be interrupted due to the project. For more information, contact the City’s Refuse Division at 509-575-6005.
