Cheech Marin, member of comedy duo ‘Cheech & Chong’ to visit Yakima on Oct. 3

YAKIMA, Wash. – Cheech Marin, an actor, director and member of the comedy duo ‘Cheech & Chong’ is visiting the Rotary Club of Yakima as part of Hispanic Heritage Month on Thu., Oct. 3.

Central Washington University and OIC of Washington is helping the Rotary Club of Yakima in sponsoring the visit.

A press release says Marin is a leading advocate for Chicano art and has put together a private collection that is the core of The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture in the Riverside Art Museum.

Marin has held roles in several feature films including Up in Smoke, Tin Cup, Shotgun Wedding, Champions and The Long Game.

At the event, Marin will speak to Rotary Club of Yakima members at a noon luncheon in the Yakima Valley Conference Center. Members of the public can attend by RSVP and paying $20 at the door.

Hispanic Heritage Month goes from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and honors the rich history of Hispanic and Latino Americans across the country.

Marin will also present to the Central Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the Valley Mall on Oct. 2 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and at Central Washington University on Oct. 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
