KENNEWICK, Wash. – Kennewick Police are investigating a bank robbery at Chase Bank from the morning of June 13.
Kennewick Police responded to the bank on Vista Way and North Conway Street around 11:47 a.m. for reports of a robbery.
A 72-year-old man wearing a mask allegedly entered the bank and gave a teller a note demanding money. According to KPD, the teller gave the suspected robber money from the till and the suspect then ran out of the bank.
Police established a perimeter around the bank and used a K9 and drone to search for the suspect, however, they were not found.
The man was later tracked to the 3300 block of West Ninth Avenue where he was taken into custody at 3:30 p.m. An investigation of the area is ongoing with a search warrant being executed.
Evidence related to the robbery, including U.S. currency, was found. The man is being booked into the Benton County Jail for first degree robbery.
No weapon was used during the robbery, according to KPD, and there is no threat to the public.
