RICHLAND, Wash. – The City of Richland reported a short interruption in power on Monday that hit central Richland early in the morning.
According to Maryam Habibi from Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), a single line tripped and reclosed at around 4:15 a.m., causing the outage. The line was quickly put back in place.
Ed Dawson from the Hanford Office of Communications says the Hanford federal building in Richland also lost power and that workers were recommended to work from home.
Dawson also noted that there was an outage at the Hanford Site caused by a circuit breaker opening during a storm Sunday night, however backup generators were used and power was restored.
Dawson is uncertain if the BPA and Hanford Site outages are related.
