Celebrating Nancy Cooper Russell at CM Russell Museum

A special event at the CM Russell Museum on Monday, September 30 at 6:00 p.m. will honor Nancy Cooper Russell, the wife and promoter of cowboy western artist CM Russell. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history of one of Great Falls’ most influential figures while celebrating Good Neighbor Day. The Community Read will discuss “Behind Every Man: The Story of Nancy Cooper Russell” by Joan Stauffer, exploring what it meant to be a good neighbor to both Nancy and Charlie Russell. The event will feature engaging presentations and a closer look at the dynamic duo’s impact on the community.

Autumn Fun at the Good Wood Guys Pumpkin Patch

In addition to the museum event, the Good Wood Guys, an urban sawmill in Great Falls, are hosting a pumpkin patch every weekend throughout October. Families can enjoy a fun-filled day with various activities such as apple tossing, hammer and nail games, and a mysterious feature called “Ghost Golfing” that promises both excitement and curiosity. It’s a perfect fall outing to create lasting memories with loved ones.

Get Ready for Winter at the Great Falls Ski and Board Club Swap

For those gearing up for winter sports, the Great Falls Ski and Board Club is organizing their annual Ski and Board Swap on October 11 and 12 at the Montana Expo Park. This event is a must-visit for winter enthusiasts to find great deals on ski and snowboard equipment. It’s an excellent chance to prepare for the slopes, offering everything from skis to helmets and goggles. Families with growing children will particularly benefit from the affordable, consigned items.

Admission is FREE and the event takes place from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 11 and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 12. It is STRONGLY recommended that equipment should be consigned on Friday for those who wish to take part.

Spooky “Grim Tales of Great Falls” at the History Museum

October also brings spooky festivities with the “Grim Tales of Great Falls” at the History Museum on October 12 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. This event, part of the museum’s Second Saturday series, will feature spine-chilling stories of body snatching, murders, and other historical mysteries researched by the museum’s archives administrator, Megan Sanford. It’s an ideal way to get into the Halloween spirit and explore the darker side of local history.
