CBC, WSU Tri-Cities to hold lecture series on Hanford’s 80 years of history

PASCO, Wash. – Columbia Basin College and WSU Tri-Cities are teaming up in announcing a five-part lecture series discussing the history of the Hanford nuclear site and its social, environmental and economic impacts.

The first lecture, titled ‘Fukushima-Hanford Collaboration and Hanford’s Nuclear History,’ takes place on Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. in the WSU Tri-Cities East Auditorium.

Other topics discuss the history of the site itself, the Manhattan Project and Hanford’s role in WWII. Speakers include CBC president Rebekah Woods, vice chancellor of academic and student affairs at WSU Tri-Cities Kate McAteer and more.

The Hanford Nuclear Legacy lecture series is part of a partnership with the Higashi Nippon International University, the National Institute of Technology-Fukushima College, CBC and WSU Tri-Cities.
