PASCO, Wash.-The Columbia Basin College E-Sports team is holding Valorant tryouts May 13-14.

Video games aren’t just for kids anymore and e-sport athletes can compete at the college level.

“Well it all just started with my love of video games from a young age and just getting connected with the e-sports program in high school,” said Tyce Rogers, CBC E-Sports Athlete.

All student gamers are invited to tryout in the Esports Arena on the CBC campus from 5-8 p.m. in SRC 203.

Head E-Sports coach Joel Harvey is looking to fill four open spots on his team through the free tryouts open to all CBC students.

For E-Sports athletes like Rogers a love of video games can lead to athletic glory and further academic opportunities as he plans to transfer to the University of Washington in the future.

“I had already planned on going to UW previous to doing esports, but with all this cool programming being set up, I’ve made that connection and I’m just excited to hopefully go play for them,” Rogers said.
