YAKIMA, Wash.- Archive Librarian, Carlos Pelly will give a presentation titles “The Legacy of Yakima Velley’s Carnegie Libraries: A history of continued public service” at the Yakima Valley Museum.
The presentation will be Saturday, Dec. 2 at 12 p.m.
Pelly has collaborated with the Yakima Valley historical Society to uncover facts about the Carnegie grants.
“Carnegie saw libraries as community centers and a way to instill civic engagement and leadership…he saw access to literacy and education as key to opening doors for citizens,” explained Pelley.
The event will be free and open to the public. light refreshments will be available.
