PROSSER, Wash. – In an update from the Prosser Police Department, a car stolen from Prosser was reportedly used in a shooting at the Seasons Performance Hall in Yakima on Fri., June 7.

A press release from PPD says at around 1 a.m. on June 7, officers were called to the 700 block of Sixth Street for a reported car theft. The caller told officers that her 2013 Hyundai had been stolen.

Officers accessed surveillance footage and found two people wearing masks stealing the car.

Later that day at around 11:37 p.m., the same car was used in a shooting on the 100 block of North Naches Avenue in Yakima at the Seasons Performance Hall. That shooting resulted in the death of 38-year-old James Cloinger.

The Yakima Police Department, who is investigating the shooting, reports that gang-affiliated artists were performing at the hall at the time and a rival gang took the opportunity to attack. Cloinger was reportedly not gang-affiliated.

As a result, four people were detained and one was arrested for a concealed carry violation.
