OLNEY, Mont. – The Olney Fire Department responded to a campfire leading to a tree blaze between Finger and Hole in the Wall Lakes on Monday evening, the department shared in a post.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a campfire had spread to several nearby trees.
While it may look like fall, with October here, fire safety remains essential. The MT Fire Info map shows 27 active wildfires Tuesday morning across the state.
The Olney Fire Department successfully put a line around the perimeter of the fire. Department of Natural Resources and Conservation officials will monitor the situation further.
Residents are reminded to completely extinguish fires to prevent similar occurrences.
