GRANDVIEW, Wash. – Yakima County Fire District 5 firefighters fought a wildfire in the area of 141 Loomis Road near Grandview on Monday

According to Tanya Gaston with YCFD5, the fire was reported around 1 p.m. YCFD5 Deputy Fire Chief Joel Byam says wind caused the fire to burn 10 acres before being put out.

Byam says the fire was caused by a child burning something in a makeshift burn pit, which then spread and caused minor damage to a nearby vineyard.

No one was injured in the fire, which was put out in about 35 minutes, according to Byam.

Power was out for about 1,880 Pacific Power customers in the area of the fire, however it has since been restored.
