Is there going to be a Bridgerton Season 4?

Yes. Bridgerton was renewed for Season 3 and Season 4 in April 2021, when Season 2 was in production. The announcement was released on social media via Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers. “It seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons 3 and 4. This author shall have to purchase more ink…” the announcement read.

When is Bridgerton Season 4 coming out?

Bridgerton Season 4, which will consist of eight episodes, does not have a premiere date yet. Filming is now underway in London.

The show is expanding its filming locations on one of the newly constructed backlots of Shepperton Studios, showcasing exquisite Georgian and Regency architecture replicas, including homes, buildings, Mayfair Street, and more. This milestone, eight months in the making, promises to envelop the beloved show in an even more delightful and authentic atmosphere, transporting audiences to a world of Regency-era splendor, according to Netflix.

Showrunner Jess Brownell admitted that it could be another two-year wait for Season 4, so a 2026 premiere date is not out of the question. “We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.”

She added, “I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re towards the end with the writers’ room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writers’ room’s best work. We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders, so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have.”

Netflix has finally revealed new cast members who will play key characters in Benedict and Sophie’s story. Katie Leung, best known for playing Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films, has been cast as Lady Araminta Gun. According to Netflix, Araminta is “twice married and twice widowed” and has

two girls debuting on the marriage mart this season,” Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (Isabella Wei). Araminta is “fabulous, discerning, and blunt.” Sophie’s stepmother “does not respond well when anything — or anyone — threatens her standing in society.”

Araminta’s eldest daughter, Rosamund, is described as “beautiful, vain, and eager to please her mother.” Rosamund has her eyes set on Benedict Bridgerton this season. Posy is “much kinder” than her older sister, but her “chatty, overly friendly demeanor often has her putting her foot in her mouth.”

Additional cast members returning include Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), Victor Alli (Lord John Stirling), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling), Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Bridgerton), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Stirling), Daniel Francis (Lord Marcus Anderson), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), and Polly Walker (Portia Featherington). Emma Naomi, who plays Alice Mondrich, and Hugh Sachs, who plays Brimsley, will be a part of the main cast in Season 4.

One cast member noticeably missing from the Season 4 cast list is Simone Ashley, aka Kate Bridgerton. Netflix has not announced her status for the fourth season. “Both Johnny and I, we adore our characters, Kate and Anthony, so much and their relationship and what they mean for the show,” Ashley previously told PEOPLE. “I think we’ll do all we can with our schedules to make it work so that we can, hopefully.”

Regé-Jean Page has notoriously not returned as the Duke of Hastings since his dazzling debut in Bridgerton Season 1. Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton, popped up in Season 2 but did not return in Season 3.

What will Bridgerton Season 4 be about?

Benedict will be the lead of Season 4. His love story with Sophie Beckett (Baek in the show) is the subject of Quinn’s third Bridgerton novel, An Offer From a Gentleman. Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which revolves around Penelope and Colin, is Quinn’s fourth book in the series. By following Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton) love story in Season 3, the show switched the order of Quinn’s novels.

The logline for Season 4 reads: “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

This Lady in Silver is none other than Sophie in Quinn’s novel, which is full of twists and turns. In a spin on Cinderella, Sophie shows up at the masquerade ball for a night away from her stepmother’s harsh treatment and crosses paths with Benedict, although she keeps her identity a secret. She works as a maid under father’s widow.

In the Season 3 finale, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) mentioned returning to Mayfair next year for Violet’s masquerade ball, where Benedict meets Sophie in his book. A time jump, one long enough for Colin and Penelope to have a son, seemingly brings us closer to the event that changes Benedict’s life forever.

Brownell told Tudum she is “very excited” to explore Benedict’s love story. “It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down,” she said. “He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode.”

“I won’t give you anything, but I do think that there are some clues at the end of Season 3 of where we’re headed,” Brownell previously teased when she spoke to TV Insider about Season 4. “So yeah, I leave that to fans to pick apart, but I think we’re tipping our hand just a little bit.”

At the Bridgerton Season 3 premiere in New York City, Quinn revealed that the Season 4 love story had already been chosen. “I do know,” she cryptically told PEOPLE.
