Is there going to be a Bridgerton Season 4?

Yes. Bridgerton was renewed for Season 3 and Season 4 back in April 2021 when Season 2 was in production. The announcement was released on social media via Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers. “It seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons 3 and 4. This author shall have to purchase more ink…” the announcement read.

When is Bridgerton Season 4 coming out?

Bridgerton Season 4 does not have a premiere date yet. Since production has yet to begin, it’s difficult to say when the fourth season will launch.

Showrunner Jess Brownell admitted that it could be another two-year wait for Season 4, so a 2026 premiere date is not out of the question. “We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.”

However, Brownell revealed that the writers are currently hard at work on the Season 4 scripts. “I’m really excited about what we’re writing,” she continued. “We’re towards the end with the writers’ room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writers’ room’s best work. We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have.”

Whose love story will be featured in Bridgerton Season 4?

Benedict will be the lead of Season 4. His love story with Sophie Beckett is the subject of Quinn’s third Bridgerton novel, An Offer From a Gentleman. Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which revolves around Penelope and Colin, is Quinn’s fourth book in the series. By following Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton) love story in Season 3, the show switched the order of Quinn’s novels.

The logline for Season 4 reads: “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

This Lady in Silver is none other than Sophie Beckett in Quinn’s novel, which is full of twists and turns. In a spin on Cinderella, Sophie shows up at the masquerade ball for a night away from her stepmother’s harsh treatment and crosses paths with Benedict, although she keeps her identity a secret. She works as a maid under father’s widow.

In the Season 3 finale, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) mentioned returning to Mayfair next year for Violet’s masquerade ball, which is where Benedict meets Sophie in his book. A time jump, one long enough for Colin and Penelope to have a son, seemingly brings us closer to the event that changes Benedict’s life forever.

Brownell told Tudum she is “very excited” to explore Benedict’s love story. “It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down,” she said. “He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode.”

“I won’t give you anything, but I do think that there are some clues at the end of Season 3 of where we’re headed,” Brownell previously teased when she spoke to TV Insider about Season 4. “So yeah, I leave that to fans to pick apart, but I think we’re tipping our hand just a little bit.”

At the Bridgerton Season 3 premiere in New York City, Quinn revealed that the Season 4 love story had already been chosen. “I do know,” she cryptically told PEOPLE.

Which cast members will return for Bridgerton Season 4?

The official Bridgerton Season 4 cast has yet to be confirmed by Netflix, but Thompson will return as our leading man. However, given the past three seasons, you can expect plenty of familiar characters like Penelope, Colin, Benedict, Eloise, Francesca, Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), Hyacinth (Florence Hunt), Gregory (Will Tilston), and, hopefully, Lady Whistledown (Julie Andrews).

Regé-Jean Page has notoriously not returned as the Duke of Hastings since his dazzling debut in Bridgerton Season 1. Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton, popped up in Season 2 but did not return in Season 3. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley returned as Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma in Season 3 after getting their fairytale ending. But will Anthony and Kate be back from India by the time Season 4 picks up?!
