SEATTLE, Wash. – Layoff notices have started arriving for Boeing employees as the company moves forward with plans to cut 10% of its workforce, affecting approximately 17,000 employees.
The layoffs will impact executives, managers and other employees across the company. This decision comes after Boeing experienced significant financial losses over the past five years.
A strike by the machinist union led to a seven-week halt in production, contributing to the company’s financial challenges.
Boeing plans to continue issuing layoff notices through Friday.
