Body found on SR 240 in Richland was there for weeks, coroner says

RICHLAND, Wash. – UPDATE Nov. 21

The body found along the ramp from eastbound SR 240 and I-182 in Richland reportedly has been there for several weeks, according to the Benton County Coroner’s Office.

BCCO hopes to identify the person’s identity on Thursday after an autopsy. Identification was found in one of his pockets, but due to his body sitting out for several weeks, BCCO must do a scientific identification over a visual identification.

No obvious injuries were found on the person following x-ray analysis. There is no threat to the public.

A body was found in the median of SR 240 in Richland on the morning of Nov. 20.

The unidentified body was found in the median of eastbound SR 240 and eastbound I-182 shortly after 9 a.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.

At this time it is unknown how the body got into the roadway or how the person died. The WSP is now investigating.
