YAKIMA, Wash.-The Yakima YMCA is hosting a boating and water safety event on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
With a warm Mother’s Day weekend expected around the region many people may be getting ready to hit local waterways and boating and water safety begins with preparation.
The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office will be providing free boat inspections at the event at the YMCA Yakima Rotary Aquatic Center at 3800 River Road.
The event will feature water safety demonstrations and life jacket fittings to illustrate the proper ways for both adults and children to wear life jackets, according to a YCSO social media post.
Free life jackets will be available at the event while supplies last.
