OLYMPIA, Wash.-A bill that would require fitness centers to have at least one semiautomatic external defibrillator on location has unanimously passed the state Senate.
Sen. Sam Hunt (D-Olympia), sponsored Senate Bill 5592, which was brought forward by his constituents following the death of a Thurston County Search and Rescue Captain, according to a press release on the bill.
“By requiring AEDs in all fitness centers, we take a necessary step towards protecting and providing immediate care for those who suffer from any form of heart disease or trauma,” said Sen. Hunt.
SB 5592 will now be considered in the House.
