WALLA WALLA, Wash.- Walla Walla Public Schools has announced an interim Principal to lead Berney Elementary for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year following the resignation of Principal Michelle Carpenter.
Don Davis, a former Principal in the Milton-Freewater district, will serve as the interim Principal at Berney according to a social media post from WWPS.
Carpenter recently resigned after working as a Principal at Berney for the past seven years. According to the district her resignation was “a personal decision made of her own volition.”
Davis will start at Berney on September 20 and the district plans a comprehensive search for a permanent Principal involving staff, students, parents and the community.
“I am honored to have been named interim principal at Berney Elementary for the remainder of the school year,” said Davis. “I have the utmost respect for all the staff and students have accomplished over the years and look forward to supporting this great work.”
Davis began his career in education as a student teacher at Berney Elementary and went on to work as a teacher and administrator in the Milton-Freewater district according to WWPS.
