BENTON COUNTY, Wash.-Residents in Benton County are reportedly being targeted by a solar installation scam.
According to the Benton PUD, numerous customers have reported being contacted by the scammer recently.
The scam solar installer is going door-to-door claiming to be with the Benton PUD and trying to sell solar panels to homeowners using high pressure sales tactics, according to a PUD press release.
The scammer is reportedly offering free energy audits and solar panels to induce customers to buy.
After hearing of the scam the Benton PUD is reminding its customers that it does not solicit business door-to-door and that it does not market or sell rooftop solar panels.
