KENNEWICK, Wash.-The Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo donated $2,175 to Second Harvest Tri-Cities in honor of Hunger Awareness Week.
The Fair donated $2 from each adult admission ticket sold on opening day and the total donation will provide about 13,044 pounds of food for those in need in the Tri-Cities community according to a press release on the donation.
“Our roots in agriculture make combating food insecurity a natural extension of our mission,” stated Duane Howard, President of the Fair Board.
The Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo equivalent of 143,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest over the past 15 years.
“While the need for nutritious food continues to increase across our region, it’s helpful to know we have reliable partners who donate year after year,” expressed Drew Meuer, President of Second Harvest. “Partners like the Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo make it possible for us to help our neighbors in need.”
