KENNEWICK, Wash. – As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and its Tough Enough to Wear Pink program, the Benton Franklin Fair donated $11,942 to local cancer prevention efforts.
The Tri-Cities Cancer Center foundation, the Prosser Memorial Hospital Foundation and Grace Clinic will benefit from the funds.
Each year, the Tough Enough to Wear Pink program at the Fair encourages fair attendees to wear pink on Thursday to raise awareness. Additional fundraisers are also held in the off-season to bolster support.
“We have made Tough Enough to Wear Pink a core initiative for the Fair, resulting in a healthier population and a heightened awareness about breast cancer prevention,” said Fair Board President Duane Howard. “We appreciate our health care partners and all they do for our community and are pleased to make this donation to support their efforts.”
The Fair has donated over $224,000 over the last 16 years to help uninsured community members fight breast cancer. The funding has provided over 2,000 people with free mammograms and screenings.
